All of the following paintings have been made in layers of resin and enamel. I established a palette of 35 colors from an old paint by numbers set given to my son. The paint is poured rather than brushed to minimize the evidence of my hand. Many of the shapes used in the most recent works stem from illustrations from Charles Darwin's notebooks and images from Zoological lectures by George Shaw in 1800. I like the idea of collapsing the history of images relating to the natural world into a singular synthetic image.
